First Day of Nursery School

My miracles are growing up! On September 15, 2009, the girls had their first day of nursery school. Both girls love it so far. Natalie jumps right in and readily says "bye" to me at drop off. Ava, has a tough time with the transition, but comes bouncing over to me with a big smile on her face at the end of the day.

Red Apple Farm

We took an afternoon trip to Red Apple Farm today! The kids loved choosing pumpkins, eating cider donuts, and playing in the dirt! We are looking forward to going back in November for the Harvest Festival! Pictures below are from today:

...long long overdue

I apologize for being a big slacker in the blog world. We've been enjoying the nice weather, taking advantage of opportunities to see family and friends at various cookouts and birthday parties, and working on our first ever vegetable garden (more to come later on that). I thought I'd take a quick opportunity on this rainy day to add a couple of new posts.

We had an opportunity several weekends ago to head up to NY state to visit some friends that we had not seen in a long time! We all had a fabulous time! Thank you Yim Family for your hospitality and a very very fun weekend!

Last weekend we enjoyed spending time in NH with Jeff's friends and family. We were able to stop by and visit the Moore family briefly before heading to Jeff's friend, Josh's daugther's (Emily) 3rd birthday party. Following the birthday party, we spent some time with Nana at Aunt Nancy's house and then went out to dinner at Ray's Seafood. YUM!

Last week, the girls spent time playing in their pool here at home.

Happy Birthday to our Two Angels!

It is hard to believe that on Mother's Day 4 years ago (yesterday), May 9, 2005, I gave birth to my first born babies, Samuel & Alexandra. They entered this world too soon & were with us for only a couple of hours before they went home to their Father in Heaven. We remember them this weekend and the footprints they left on our lives. We love you & miss you, Sam & Alexandra! We wish you could be here with your sisters to celebrate Mother's Day with us, but we are comforted in knowing that we will see you again.

Big Girls

Well, it is official....
Ava & Natalie are both "day trained" & are loving all of their new undies!

And, the newest development this week is we said "bye bye" to these old friends:
A&N threw them in the trash 3 days ago. We've had 2 successful nights' sleep and 3 naps now sans binkies.

Catching Up!
I am WAY behind on my blogging...sorry, Nana!

We were thrilled to be able to spend some time with Michelle, Raji, and Eve over V-Day. I wish I had taken some pics w/ Eve in it though! Maybe I can get uncle Raji to send us some (hint hint).

Michelle & Grammy made a VDay Cake for everyone, I cooked dinner, and we played a few rounds of "Apples to Apples" after the kiddos were all in bed.

Baby Eve was nice enough to spare a hand-me-up for Coco to wear until Eve gets bigger.

Florida 2009

We are once again on our yearly trip to Marco Island, Florida. We are so happy to be able to take this trip to escape the frigid temps of New England and soak up some sun in Florida!

This year, the weather was nice and warm for the first few days we arrived, but the temps of suddenly taken a dive and it is only going to be a high of 63 today :( O well, I cannot really complain when the temperature at home is in the negatives...brrrr.

The girls are loving it here this year. They enjoy swimming in the pool with all of new found friends, digging in the sand, looking for shells, sand dollars, and starfish, visiting with Uncle S"teve" and Aunt Chris, and not having to get bundled up in hats and coats.

I personally, love that Caroline can wear shorts and I can see her little rolls of chub and dimbled elbows that are hidden under layers of clothing at home.

"Don't touch my Wheetabix" and other 2 year old sentiments....

I spend much of my day laughing at little statements the twins say & listening to them argue over some pretty amusing topics.... I thought I would record some of their not-so-intentional witty comments throughout the day today...stay tuned!

* More often than not the girls will comment on something without providing any context for the statement. In this case, Natty provided WAY more than needed:
Nat was sitting at the breakfast table & hit her finger on the side of it. When I asked her "what's wrong?", she said "I hurt my finger on the little table that grammy and grandpa bought".

* Ava was out of her seat & patting Natty on the back during lunch today. I asked her what she was doing, she said "Burping Natty".

* Another "Natty" moment (she is my more verbose 2 year old). She was building sandcastles today with Ava and a 6 year old girl in Florida. The 6 year old said, "I am building a car, what are you making, Natty?" Natalie responded, "I am making Barack Obama!"

Ready for Christmas

We spent this post-ice storm weekend ready-ing our home for Christmas. We made home made play doh, Ava helped mommy make some gingerbread cake, we decorated the tree, hung the stockings, and pulled out all of the other misc. decorations. Sunday morning was perfect hunkered down with the snow, Christmas music, and each other. We enjoyed a gruyere-emmethal fondue lunch before everyone (except daddy who was shoveling) had a nap.

ICE

Last Friday, December 12th, we awoke to no electricity, branches all over our yard, and part of a tree through Jeff's car window. It was the worst ice storm NE has seen in over 30 years. I have some pics on my phone & will try to post them on here later.... if you have not seen any of the devastation in Central Mass you can probably google it and get plenty of hits!
We quickly realized that life with 2 toddlers and an infant was not going to be much fun without electricity, so we drove to NJ to stay with aunt Michelle. It was such a blessing to be able to stay with them and be able to spend time Raji, Michelle, and Eve. Thank you so much for your hospitality in our time of need! We were incredibly blessed by you.

Give Thanks

I am feeling both unbelieveably blessed and completely undeserving at the same time. I just want to take this time to thank God for all of the blessings in my life. This year, I am particularly thankful for:

* My husband- I am not sure how I wound up with such a great catch! I am thankful for what a wonderful husband you are & what a wonderful dad you have become.

* Our parents- Thank you mom, dad, & Judy for all of the wisdom you impart every day and all of the love you continue to give year after year!

* My children- Just over 3 years ago I would never believed that I would have 3 amazing and beautiful daughters in my life. You are all truly a miracle. I wish I could hold onto each day so that I would never forget the little moments each & every day that we have together.

* My children in heaven- You taught me so much! It continually amazes how much two babies who were on earth for only two hours had such an impact on their parents' lives as well as others. We'll see you again someday...

* My sister- I miss you terribly! I wish we lived so much closer so that we could learn with each other daily as new mothers.

* Friends

* My job & Jeff's job- There is nothing like a poor economy to make you so thankful for every day that you have employment.

* My home- I love owning a home & all of the joy as well as "jobs" that come with it.

* The small stuff- the smell of freshly hung laundry, clean diapers, Caroline's squeals, the funny things Ava & Natalie say, the smell of baking bread, freshly cut flowers, the crisp fall air, a hot shower, a new pair of jeans, an old pair of jeans, dates with my husband, a restful night of sleep...

...these thighs. Don't you just want to squeeze them?!

Potty Training (part II)

I cannot believe I am posting on a blog about my daughters' pooping habits, but here's the latest....

Natty has decided that "Natty not ready" for the potty. So, we've put her back in diapers & forged ahead w/ Ava.

I am almost afraid to post it, for fear that it may not be true, but Ava has been doing awesome with potty training! She stayed dry all day today even when we took an outing to Millbury & during naptime!!!!!!!!!! The only accident she had was with a poop. I won't get my hopes up that we may not have setbacks, but I am very impressed with how she is doing so far! She even used the restroom at Red Robin with my help.

Potty, Patches, & Pigtails

We are trying this again, Potty Training. I am not sure why, but I woke up with new ambition to get these girls potty trained. Perhaps it's the $20.00 a week I'd save on diapers, or maybe it's just so that I can stop changing all of those really yucky diapers. Anyway, we gave it another go.

Today went much better than the first time I tried. During the morning Ava had only 1 accident & Natalie had 2. I had them run around naked pretty much all morning. This afternoon we graduated to undies. No one has peed yet, but I am hoping and praying that the afternoon goes equally as well.

Ava was wearing her eye patch during the "big girl photo shoot" & Natty is sporting her new big girl look.

Welcome, Baby Eve!

Michelle decided to pay a visit to the OB on Friday after experiencing 12 hrs of contractions 10-15 minutes apart. She was informed she was 7cm & had better hurry to the hospital.
After an hour and a half of pushing, it was evident that Eve was not descending low enough into the birth canal to be delivered, so the doctor ordered a C section.

Eve was born on October 31st at 8:18pm. She was 7lbs 14oz and 20 inches long. Mommy, daddy, and baby are doing great. Michelle looked fantastic today (Sunday) just 36 hrs after giving birth. Eve is a super hungry girl! She is doing great w/ learning to nurse and loves her bottles too!

Please pray for Raji, Michelle, and Eve as they transition home in a couple of days and adjust to life as new parents!

Red Apple Farm- Enjoying the Fall Day!

We took a trip to Red Apple Farm today to get the girls out of the house for the 1st time in 6 days. We looked at the animals and pumpkins, played with sand toys, ate apple cider donuts, bought a pumpkin pie to share with grammy and grandpa, and ordered a Thanksgiving turkey!

G Baby

Much to my sadness, Caroline outgrew her cloth diapers. I decided that instead of ordering more cloth as I could see myself getting a little grossed out by them as she starts eating solids that I would try G Diapers (http://www.gdiapers.com/), which have disposable liner.

They are a bit big on her still, but are totally adorable and so far I really like them! The inside liner is disposable by composting (which Grandpa thinks is great), flushing, or throwing in the trash.

SICK

I've been delinquent on posting because I've been caring for 3 sick kiddos all week. Two weeks ago we saw the first nose drip, assumed it was just a lingering cold, and went to see Aunt Michelle & Uncle Raji in NJ for a little pre-Eve visit. We had a nice time despite feeling under the weather & cranky, but we wound up getting poor Aunt Michelle & Uncle Raji both sick :( , Sorry. We were however, able to have Michelle & Raji's friend, Karen Alquist take some photos of the girls for our 2008 Christmas Card. It was a bit of a challenge with everyone's noses dripping and puffy eyes, but I am quite impressed with the way they came out despite all that! Karen gave us far more than the time promised us for the session & we truly appreciated it! Thanks, Karen!

Anyway.....Tuesday we bit the bullet and went to see Dr. John. Turns out Caroline had an ear infection and Ava & Natalie had sinus infections. We were drowning in a sea of pink amoxicillian for the next couple of days. On Thursday, both A&N had fevers over 100, so I got back on the phone to Dr. John. Everyone now has a new prescription. Caroline has been fever free for 72 hrs and A&N are finally fever free for the first time this morning!

Meanwhile, I woke up this morning to what feels like the beginning of a mastitis! ~ which is probably the result of long nights up w/ sick kids.
Hopefully I can ward this off before it becomes a full blown infection.

Crazy Sundays

We had a fun Sunday, but it was packed!!!! We went to church, came home, I cooked a pumpkin/chocolate tart that was in last month's Everyday Food magazine. I served it when my aunt Ann came to visit with her kids. It was great, but would have been better refrigerated overnight.

After our guests left, Jeff finished mowing and cleaning up the yard while I began making some WHO bread and apple scones to freeze and bring to NJ for Michelle & Raji so that they have some quick things to thaw and eat after the baby arrives.

Now, it's time to relax a bit before another busy Monday!

Toddler Beds: Part III

The transfer to the beds at 11pm was successful. We heard nothing from them until 3:00am when we were awoken by Caroline's crying to eat followed by a big THUMP from Ava & Natalie's room. Jeff went in to investigate. He found Ava flat on her back on the floor in the middle of the two beds. No major damage. Once Ava got over the initial shock of falling out of bed she quickly stopped crying.
Jeff & I were nervous that she would be turned off to the whole bed idea & not go back. So, we took her into our room for 10 minutes when I fed Caroline. We gave her "the countdown" and put her back in her bed. Much to our relief, she went back to sleep. It's now 7:00am and they just woke up! YAY!
Hopefully nap time will go even better!

Toddler Beds; Part II

I caved....they were histerical, so I went upstairs, got them each a pillow, got myself one, and lay on their floor pretending to go to sleep. Nothing. Still histerical. Only now, also asking to sleep on the floor.

I finally threw in the towel and went to the old standby, ride in the car. They were sleeping like babies in 10 minutes flat. We transferred them to their beds & there they now lie....angelic (for now).

I'll update in the morning with how the remainder of the night went.

Toddler Beds

Ava & Natalie did so well on their aero beds at the Cape & napping in their new toddler beds at grammy and grandpa's house that we decided to buy them some for at home!

Tonight is the first in them...and so far, no one is asleep and it is 10:00pm. We probably chose a poor night to make the transition as I had work colleagues here. When they first went up to bed, they were happy and goofing around in their room. Now, in their over tired state, they are crying and saying they do not want to sleep in their "big girl beds".

Jeff and I are downstairs just PRAYING that they go to sleep tonight!

Backlog: Daddy's Birthday

We celebrated Jeff's birthday before we left for Cape Cod. His real birthday was September 18th, but we had to celebrate a day early due to a schedule conflict of mommy's. Slacking

I admit to dropping the ball on the rest of our Cape Cod trip. We went to the beach some more, played on the playground, ate lots of good food, and did some shopping. O yeah, and grandpa bought some hand cut donuts! YUM! Jeff took his computer with him to work, so I was not able to continue my daily updates.

Cape Cod; Day 3

I believe this is the first time I have truly understood the purpose of a "vacation". I don't think you can truly appreciate the ability to get away from the laundry, house cleaning, and other "have to's" until you have children! I am completely enjoying the ability to spend time with my family and children without the nagging knowledge of all the "have to's".

This morning began with another trip to the playground followed by a visit to Skaket Beach. What a perfect beach for kids! The tide was out and there were a ton of sandbars & little pools of warm water with fish, crabs, shells, etc. A great place for the kids to explore!

Ava and Natalie had great time! Caroline spent a little while in the baby bjorn followed by a nap in her "tent".

We had a relaxing afternoon of naps and more playground before a dinner on the grill at the condo.

The girls are looking forward to more beach tomorrow!

Cape Cod; Day 2

We decided to head to the Bourne Scallop Festival following a quick trip to the playground.

The Scallop festival was great! Mommy was the only one who ate any scallops though. Grammy & Grandpa opted for a lobster roll. Daddy is allergic to shellfish, so he stuck w/ a sausage sandwich.

Natalie went on her first ride & both girls went down a giant potato sack "wee".

Cape Cod; Day 1

We arrived at Cape Cod today. The girls were SO good on the car ride down! We arrived at Brewster Green where we checked in & ordered out a fried sea food dinner. Ava & Natalie went to bed in their new "Aero Bed for Kids". They giggled & played for awhile before finally settling in for the night.

Natalie woke up at 4:30 am saying "It's morning, Ava big wee, Natty big wee, mommy big wee, daddy big wee". She must have been excited to try out the playground slide here at the condo!

It's a Girl! Go Bananas!

Yesterday was Aunt "Shel's" baby shower at the Old Mill. We decorated with a monkey theme as Michelle has traditionally loved monkeys. We are so excited to meet baby Eve! We continue to pray that the remainder of the pregnancy is uneventful and that Eve gets the 9 months she needs in her mommy before she is born.

Labor Day Cookout

Davis Farmland & Caroline's 1 Month Birthday

Caroline is 1 month old today. I can hardly believe a month has passed already since our little girl entered the world. It just takes my breath away how one moment you don't know the little being inside of you & the next she is here and you are totally in love. Caroline has been such a blessing to our family. Yes, having 3 girls under the age of 2 is definately challenging at times, but we would not trade it for the world.

We decided to take this beautiful late August day and take the girls to Davis Farmland. Ava loved to chase & pat the goats, while Natalie would warn us that one was approaching and then run when it came close. The splash park as always, was a big hit.

Another Busy August Weekend

We've kept ourselves busy again this weekend...trying to have fun and keep the kids busy while also keeping Caroline out of crowded public buildings while her immunity is still a bit low from her hospital stay.

Saturday night we went to the band concert again in the park. This time, we had company! Grammy, Grandpa, Aunt Tilou, Aunt Julie, Aunt Aime, Mackenzie, Jim, and Jake were there. The kids had fun time running around and dancing to the music. (these pics are courtesy of Grandpa)

We're home!

We were discharged this morning. All test results came back normal! We are praising God & just so thankful that everything looks good for little Caroline. She still has a bit of a temp, so we will continue to pray that it goes away quickly.

Update on Baby Coco

We are still waiting for the test results from the blood culture and spinal tap. Her urinalysis and all other preliminary bloodwork looks normal. YAY~ Caroline's fever is in the 99's today as it was yesterday. It is my hope that it drops as the day goes on instead of going up again like it did yesterday.
She is in better spirits...not nearly as grouchy as she was yesterday.

Please Pray

Caroline was admitted to the hospital today with a fever and general irritability. This is pretty abnormal for a baby of her age (3 weeks). Several cultures were done as well as a spinal tap. Please pray for total healing & that the test come back negative.
Pray also for peace & rest for mommy, daddy, grammy, and grandpa as we spend time w/ Caroline at the hospital as well as take care of Ava & Natalie.

YAY! SHE DID IT!

Caroline had an appointment at the pediatrician's today & she now weighs 6lbs 15oz! That's 1lb heavier than last week!!! YAY Coco! She surpassed her birthweight & hopefully we can now move to a feeding "on demand" schedule instead of waking her up every few hours.
It's kind of bittersweet though knowing how quickly she will grow from here on out. Our little peanut won't be so little for very long *sigh*.

Clotheslines & Music in the Park

I've never been a big fan of clotheslines. They take up way too much room and really are not an attractive landscape item. BUT, they make sense. So, for my 30th birthday I asked for and received a clothesline. Grandpa came to help daddy dig a whole and cement it into the ground. Ava & Natalie "helped". We tried putting the girls' handprints into the cement, but only Ava's came out. :(

We thought we'd take the girls to their first summer concert in the park tonight. They loved it! Both girls danced and clapped their hands to the music. By the time we got home, they were ready for bed and went right to sleep.

BIG Sisters

Ava & Natalie are both very affectionate to their new baby sister... Natalie was not so sure at first, but she surprised us when she asked to hold "baby Coco" the other night!

The First Week Home

We are all home and adjusting well. Caroline is such a joy to have in our family! What a great baby! She is a good eater/sleeper/pooper. Ava & Natalie are adjusting to being big sisters.... they love to kiss Caroline and want to know where she is every morning when they wake up.

Sweet Caroline

On July 23rd we welcomed the newest member of the Corso family. Caroline Judith Corso was born at Brigham & Women's Hospital via C Section at 11:38am. Caroline weighed 6lbs 5oz and was 18 inches long.

Blogging

Our family has undergone great change in 20 months. We've gone from a family of 2 and experiencing the highs & lows of infertility and pregnancy loss to a family of 5. When I sit back I am truly blown away by how God has blessed our family and the journey we have been on!

In order to keep everyone up to date on what the girls are up to and how they are growing I thought I'd start a blog for our family.
